Responsibilities
- Makes inspections of units entering and exiting the yard to ensure the mechanical compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
- Inspects tires, lights and other exterior components for safe operating conditions.
- Inspects trailer arriving from Mexico for damage and/or mechanical defects.
- Ensures the timely and authorized entrance to and departure of equipment.
- Refuels equipment as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge
Industrial experience is a plus.
Abilities
Must have a strong work history. Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends required. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Experience, Education, and Training
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This position requires constant standing; frequent walking, head turning, stooping, squatting, reaching and grasping as well as working in the elements. Candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 105lbs and also push and pull 115lbs.
Working Environment
Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.
Licensing/Certification
Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.
Miscellaneous Requirements
Applicant must be able to pass a physical.
