Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for making repairs as needed in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical, instrumentation/controls and related systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes repairs, PM's and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and other related building systems in all facility departments;
- Maintain AC Drives, Soft Starts, PLC's and other automation equipment used in the operation of building support equipment;
- Planning, material requisition, and installation for small project work involving electrical (lighting, power requirements), plumbing, mechanical and other facility type projects;
- Inspects, operates and maintains the HVAC systems (including boiler systems), radiant floor heat, snow melt systems, utilizing the building automation system;
- Completes general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware, landscaping and irrigation systems;
- Assists with renovations, major repairs/replacements and upkeep of existing facilities.
- Hours are 7am-3:30pm, Sunday-Thursday.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees, vendors, and contractors;
- Ability to install, inspect, make repairs and maintain the electrical, plumbing and other related systems in all facility departments;
- Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed;
- Ability to review & update inventories and other critical spare parts/ equipment as needed;
- Ability to inspect, operate and maintain the HVAC system, boiler system, radiant floor and snow melt systems and understand operation of building automation system;
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties;
- Understanding of PLC & Drive operations and troubleshooting.
Experience, Education, and Training
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); vocational training beyond high school in one of the technical fields mentioned above preferred. 5 years' experience in general maintenance, or other related field with responsibility that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures required.
Physical Requirements
This position requires constant standing, walking, forward reaching, pedal control, and grasping; frequent head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, handling, climbing and reaching. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 80lbs. Candidate is required to be able to stand for periods of 6-8 hours at a time.
Working Environment
Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.
Licensing/Certification
Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work. HVAC certification required; Journeyman Electrician preferred.
